The more than
funky drummer (2000)
This is a set of variations on a famous drum pattern, organised into a
continuous stream of ideas. The original sample has been varied in Pro-tools
by cutting, pasting & time stretching, thereby moving it beyond its
purely funky origins. The percussionist reacts to the sequence
of different rhythms & improvises around them. James Brown announces
the end of the piece

This extract was taken from a version recorded at Backtrack studios in
Croydon and features the conga playing of Tony Maloney, who is also percussionist
with the ensemble. Thanks Tony!!
