Camerawork (1980)
This simple piece was written when I first arrived in London after finishing
a year's Postgraduate study at Sheffield University. I had intended to
write a number of pieces in this style, lifting notions from the use of
cameras in film (such as 'soft focus' etc). Unfortunately, such was the
way then, I didn't get round to completing any others...
It's in that kind of hypnotic 'repetitive music' groove, and probably
would have gone down well in a Regular Music concert had I managed to
arrange it for that line up.
By the way, although it's numbered 1 in my list of compositions, it's
certainly not the first, or most orginal piece I had written up to then.
But it works pretty well even now, I think, so it's probably a good starting
point for listeners.
This extract starts in the middle section and goes throught to the end.
I hope you like it.
