A MEETING OF MINDS (BEYOND TEPLICE)

Here’s my latest work, a set of lateral variations on the 3rd movement from Beethoven’s 7th Symphony. From a simple opening on lush strings, it goes on a 27 minute journey where Beethoven encounters styles of music and harmonies from outside his era…both forwards to people like Stravinsky and Bernard Hermann, but also backwards to the tuning of Ptolemy and sideways to contemporary non-European cultures he had no means of knowing about.
